Valentine's Day

If you missed my Valentine's Day segment on the "Daily Buzz" Morning Tv show this past Tuesday...here are some tips that you missed out on! Enjoy!

Now more than ever, couples are looking for ways to spend less and get more, especially at Valentine’s Day – a time when we typically over-spend and even over-indulge. I’ve come up with a few wallet-(and waist!) friendly tips for having a romantic, memorable Valentine’s Day with your one and only.

First of all, don’t stress! Some of the best gifts are truly spontaneous and cost next to nothing. It’s the time that you spend together, not the money that creates that lasting connection.

One fun and easy thing to do is to stay home… cook a romantic dinner …and share a bottle of your favorite wine. We women love a man who can cook and ladies… people always say the way to man’s heart… is through his stomach! It’s less expensive to cook at home rather than spend a fortune at an expensive restaurant…Cook something special you both love and make the most of your time alone. Pre-purchase your favorite music and light some scented candles to help set the mood. And don’t forget dessert!

Another fun thing to do is to make a sweet scavenger hunt for your significant other. Now you can do this small scale (think around the house)… or you can really blow it out. Send your sweetheart on a hunt around town to all “your” places – your first date… first kiss…her favorite restaurant… his favorite sports bar, etc, leaving clues as to what they may find at the end, which of course, will be you! The last clue should lead back to your place for a few special things that you can enjoy together…like a music playlist with “your” songs downloaded… a bottle of champagne… and scented candles. (A product that is great to have on hand for a really special eveing is KY Brand His and Hers. The first intimacy enhancing product for men and women!)

And last but not least, another inexpensive gift is a homemade “honey-do” coupon book. Now you can have a lot of fun with this… depending on how long you’ve been together… and guys… depending how much in the dog-house you are!

Include some things you can do together like a picnic in the park, a movie night (movie of their choice) …a romantic night at home wine tasting…or an intimate massage (use K-Y® Brand Touch Massage™ 2-in-1 Warming®, a great product that can be used for massage and lubricant), a week of laundry or carpool duty.

A fun spin is – for every coupon your partner redeems, you get to make a request of your own. Fun huh? It’s the gift that keeps on giving!

Winter Coat

The Groundhog just saw his shadow, and according to legend, we get six more weeks of cold weather. So here are a few tips to protect your skin from the last dose of winter.

During the winter months it is even more important to hydrate and replenish our skin from the elements.
Hydrate: Maintain your daily intake of water (about 1/2 of the number of your body weight in ounces. For example, if you weigh 140 lbs, you will want to consume roughly 70 ounces of water per day) since it helps your skins cleanse itself and eliminate toxins.

Face/Body: Switch from lotion to cream. Switching from lotion-based products to cream-based will help to restore moisture as well as provide a more protective barrier against extremes in temperature as well as humidity.

Just because we are covering up more with sweaters and jackets and long pants…does not mean that we should not continue taking care of our skin underneath. I can't stress this enough; if you want to keep dry skin at bay, you must hydrate your skin on a daily basis. The best time to apply your lotion is right after you've dried off after your shower or bath. This is the perfect time to seal in the moisture that's already been absorbed into your skin.
Be sure to check out products on the market with Glycolic or Alpha Hydroxy in their ingredients to help promote better hydration.
Hands: I don’t know about you but this is the time of year when my hands feel dry due to excessive cold temperatures as well as hand washing to keep from getting sick.

You want to have a hand crème by the sink so that you can moisturize after each wash, also a travel size to keep in your purse so that you can apply during the day.

Nails become brittle during the colder months, so it is important to apply cuticle oil to your cuticles and around your nail bed at least a couple times a week…even if your nails are polished. This will help keep your nails from breaking easily.

Help! I have to get out of the house!!!

Ok...I have to get out of the house and I mean fast. I have been working quite a bit and have found my schedule slowing down quite a bit over the past few weeks. It was all good for about three days! I have so much that I could be doing...clean the house...file papers that are stacked a mile high, reorgainize my closet, blog????? Not so much, instead, I would wake up, eat, drink coffee, surf the web, watch tv, and before I know it, my kids are home and I am still not showered and haven't done a thing.

Day three, I am a raving lunatic. I started to work some at home (as I always do), tried to do some paperwork, and thought about going to the gym. The gym was quickly ruled out due to my raging PMS that I have been dealing with so on top of it I have a headache, cramps, and mood swings! Is there any relief? What happened to the days when I would pray for some downtime to do nothing? How I had dreamed of doing nothing and a quiet house where no one was home for at least a few hours so I could have some peace in my life...I would meditate! Not happening! I have work scheduled in the near future. Enough to keep me busy, but not as busy as I am used to (which has been too busy in my past!) and now I am going nuts! I cried to my finace who is so busy that he can't see straight...hopping from one city to another with very little sleep and fighting bad weather wherever he goes. I found myself jealous! That is normally my life! How is it that I can't sit still when that is what I have been praying for!

Ladies, for all of you stay at home moms... hats off to you! It takes a very diciplined, organized, self-motivated woman to run a household and not want to go lie under the covers half of the time til the kids get home. So, I have picked myself up, brushed myself off, and decided to walk my talk! Time for me. Time for me to be a little selfish and work on all of the things that I have been putting off doing that will make me feel better. I have been so busy helping women go for their true potential and live the lives they really want! Ok...now it is my turn (even though I have always gone for everything I want and I always strive for more). So, I signed up for a creative writing class that I have to attend every Sunday evening (now you will be stuck with me blogging on a daily basis because it is part of my daily assignment to let it flow and just write!)
I am going to try acupuncture too (to help alleviate my major PMS symptoms-stay tuned for the results! And back to taking Yoga! I have been so busy in my past that when I do have down time, I spend it with my kiddos and my honey...but now I am sharing some of my downtime with myself! So, no more under the covers! I am out... so look out! You will be hearing a lot more of me. LOL...God help you.
